  5. Description:    This is a hacked version of Doom's sndserver for use with
  6.                 8-bit sound cards and the sndcvt utility that various people
  7.                 have posted.  The original sndserver attempted to do several
  8.                 ioctls on /dev/dsp, and they fail when applied to /tmp/dsp,
  9.                 the pipe that is part of the sndcvt hack.  I have disabled
  10.                 the ioctls (and provided an appropriate fake return value for
  11.                 one of them) so that you can get Doom sound out of an 8-bit
  12.                 card.
